Maybe I've just come to expect more from figures, but the articulation on this spider man isn't the best. I wish Marvel Legends would do a Spider-Man 2099, then at least you could move the legs. This one is barely posable. Best for collectors.

Marvel comics had a clever but failed idea in the 90s in a line of 2099 comics, seeing classic characters reinvented in the future taking place in the year 2099. This Spidey 2099 was the only one to get much fan fare or a following, besides possibly Doom 2099, which saw Doctor Doom in an updated costume so he wasn't as bad taste looking. This action figure is for a reasonable price, seeing mass release and a lot of purchases in chain stores like Wal Mart. This is a smaller sculpted figure than Azrael andabout half the size of Bane. The 2099 costume still holds up even though the series was cancelled yearsago as Marvel went bankrupt and could no longer puruse daring creative risks. Their having problems now with X Men getting slapped with an R Rating. The costume sees a Mexicasn as Spider Man, but is not depicted in a racist, demeaning fashion, or even sexist. The costume's blue chest has a spider skull in red, making him look menacing and not just the tired web styled protype we know today. This version of Spider Man will probably come once Marvel kills off Peter Parker, as the series continues today without much fanfare besides the now dated more recent movies. Marvel and DC and Image are all tired, running their course through the 80s besides sore daring creative risks which would see them be depleted as cult and obscene. Whether they will get many new, younger readers is remained to be seen.
