"Amazing set with the Amazing Spider-Man!" 2002-09-14
By Alter Ego (New Haven, CT USA)
Attention parents - this review's for you, too. I'm an adult collector with a son, and this has got to be my favorite item from the Spider-Man movie line of figures. To begin with, there is an excellant 6" figure of Spidey himself, sculpted with fine detailing from the raised silver web pattern down to the texture of his blue tights. And it shows how high Toy Biz' standards are for figure design that some people are complaining that this one 'only' has 22 points of articularion (compared to the 5 points in many other figures). FYI: he's got joints at the head, neck, shoulders, two at each elbow (for realistic movement), the forearms (concealed at the end of each glove), wrist, fingers, hips, two at each ankle (allowing for both forward and sideways motion), and at the toes! The figure doens't have knee joints, but it's easy to stand, and is one of the best looking Spidey figures I own. But the best part to this toy is the unbelievably accurate base it comes with, which is essentially a free playset. There is a easy-to-assemble New York City lampost (which stands 15" tall!) with two streetlamps, traffic signals, walk lights, and street signs that snaps onto a piece of sidewalk which even includes a sewer grate. And as an extra, there is a newspaper vending machine with the Daily Bugle logos, a miniature copy of the Bugle (with a photo from the movie) is displayed in the clear window, and when you pull open the dispenser door (I can't believe this), there are tiny, accurate copies of the paper itself inside! The idea with this set is that Spider-man can swing from the lamposts (on two very well-sculpted plastic weblines), but kids will be able to enjoy this set with any action figure or vehicle. It's big enough to work with Spidey, the X-Men, Batman, Rescue Heroes, or any other super-hero your kids have, and given the price, it's like two toys in one. This is a gem both for collectors and kids! I also gave this 4 stars for educational value, because parents can use the realistic walk lights and traffic signals to help teach kids about traffic safety - something else you wouldn't think of with a super-hero toy!

This toy is cool it's so realistic because the news stand really
has papers in it. It's really fun when your board or raining. If your a big fan of Spider-man like me you'll love it. This is why I recommend this toy.

this toy is horrible. why would spiderman swing standing up. just get the first spiderman movie toy that moves in 32 places and don't forget the green goblin its a better toy and a better collectable. DISMISSED

 "swinging spiderman ser 2" 2002-06-11

this is another great spiderman toy... from the assesories to the figure... details are great and the weblines dat come with it looks realistic, only downpart about this figure is dat it has lesser joints and harder to pose but its still a great toy.. when u squeeze the legs it looks like he is wall climbing or web shooting depending on the way u pose his hands... i recommend this one from series 2 its also worth the investment the newspaper box dat it comes with also contains real newspaper in it. toybiz has actually went pass the lines this time to bring us really great detailed figures----overall 5.0

 "Could do better" 2002-05-25
By Prime (San Jose, CA United States)
The concept of this toy has good potential, but for some reasons the toy designer decided to use a non-superposable Spidy figure instead of the figure found in the Classic series. The result of this is Spidy does not look as good. The proportion of the figure seems to be odd as well.... If you have a choice buy the other Spiderman the movie figure (the one that hangs from the stone statue); that figure is superposable.
